One of the main reasons for our move to Florida, apart from getting away from the horribly cold winters, was so that I could begin a Master's degree in International Business Administration. The name of the School I attend is Schiller International University, and they have campuses in Paris, Madrid, London, Heidelberg Germany, and Florida. The first two semesters went by without a hitch and we love living in St. Petersburg, with all the nice weather and great beaches. But the prospects of staying in the banking industry and making a career out of it were not so exciting to me, and I decided to look for a new avenue.
So Chrissy and I were sitting in bed one night, thinking about our future, and wondering what it would be like to attend one of the other campuses in Europe. Very quickly we began to discuss the possibility of attending the Heidelberg Germany campus.
But as we thought about it, Madrid made more sense as far as learning a new language. As the idea began to fester in our heads, we just couldn't deny what a great opportunity it would be to study in another country, both personally and professionally. Neither of us know Spanish very well, so we decided it would be a great way to learn the language. Why not right? The kids are young, not attached to any friends yet, and they can learn the language with us! So that is what we decided.
I'm not going to bore you with the details, but there was alot of paperwork and bureacratic hoop jumping. So I quit my job, we sold our cars, and sold all our furniture in our house, and told everyone our plans...some of them said we were crazy, but most were excited for us.
We decided we could save some money by moving out to California and to live with my mother (nana Teresa) for the six weeks prior to our move to Spain. So that's what we did...
